Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide white pigment suitable for oil painting, sufficiently dispersable in a vehicle for oil painting, having proper tinting strength and hiding power, by specifying particle size of composite oxide consisting of >=1 kinds of metal among Mg, Ba and Sr, and Ti. CONSTITUTION:The white pigment consists of the composite oxide powder of 1 kinds of metal among Mg, Ba and Sr, and Ti. Innocuous and stable white and gray oil colors having high quality are obtd. by contg. the white pigment powder in the vehicle of drying oil in a state of dispersion. For obtaining the white pigment powder above-mentioned, for example, TiCl4 and SrCl2 are weighed in the molar ratio of 1:1, and an aq. soln. of ammonium formate is added to the aq. soln. dissolved TiCl4 and SrCl2 to completely form precipitate. Then, after washing, filtering and drying, the precipitate is heat-treated at about 1,000 deg.C to obtain the white pigment powder above-mentioned.
