STAMP

PURPOSE: To obtain the proper hardness and impregnate a large amount of ink by negatively or positively carving a character or a pattern on a surface of a main body made of a porous material, and forming a layer impregnatable with ink on a rear face of the main body. CONSTITUTION: A character or a pattern 2 is negatively or positively carved on a surface of a main body 1 made of a porous material, and a felt layer 3 of proper thickness, made of a felt having the continuous babbles (or capillary) such as wool, non-woven fabric or the like, is integrally formed on a rear face of the main body 1. Numeral 4 is a stamp grip part. The felt layer obtained by (compression) molding the felt of proper hardness, has the proper hardness for the use, even though a thickness of the main body 1 is thinned, and has a higher rate of impregnation of ink in comparison with that of the main body 1, so that it can be impregnated with a large amount of ink. To manufacture a stamp, a small amount of a porous material powder is uniformly rubbed on one face of the felt layer 3 compressed with desired pressure, and then the main body 1 of the porous material and the felt layer 3 are placed in a mold 5 to be compressed and molded by a movable press plate 6 in a heating condition.
