LASER SEALING METHOD FOR REED SWITCH

PURPOSE:To suppress an abrupt rise of the sealing gas pressure caused by the laser sealing and obtain a good sealed shape by heating a glass tube and the sealing gas in advance. CONSTITUTION:When an upper reed piece 11, a lower reed piece 12, and a glass tube 13 are set, the front plate 21a of a heater plate is closed, and the heater plate 21 is heated to a high temperature. The lower section of the glass tube 13 is then heated and sealed by the incidence of laser through a hole 21b, and the sealing gas heated by a coil heater 17 in advance is fed into the glass tube 13 at this time. The lower section of the glass tube 13 is heated and sealed by the incidence of laser through the hole 21b, immediately after the upper section is completely sealed, a glass tube chuck 19 is moved in the arrow direction, and a gap between contacts is set. The abrupt rise of the sealing gis pressure caused by the laser sealing is thereby suppressed, and a good sealing shape can be obtained.
