PURPOSE:To facilitate the installation of a cross-flow water turbine by removably fitting a water turbine unit in which a vertical impeller is housed in a water turbine casing, in the vertical hole of a water introducing block in which a horizontal water introducing hole and said vertical hole perpendicular to said water introducing hole are provided. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal water introducing hole 14 both ends of which are formed as the introducing inlet 14A of flowing water and a flowing outlet 14B, and a vertical hole 15A perpendicular to the water introducing hole 14 are formed in a water introducing block 15. And, a water turbine unit in which a vertical rotary output shaft 12 and a vertical impeller 13 are housed in a water turbine casing 11 is removably fitted in the vertical hole 15A. By this structure, a cross-flow water turbine can be installed merely by sinking or immersing the water turbine unit and the water introducing block 15 which are formed in an integrated form, in a river or sea, and, further, the removable water turbine unit facilitates the protection and inspection of the water turbine.
