Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the variation of engine rotation, by reducing the feedback control gain of air-fuel ratio when an engine and a drive system are not coupled. CONSTITUTION:A signal detected through an O2 sensor 22 arranged in an exhaust path 6 of an engine 1 is provided to a controller 27 so as to feedback control the injection quantity of a fuel injection valve 9 such that a predetermined air-fuel ratio can be obtained. Furthermore, signals are fed from an idle switch 24 of a throttle valve 8, a gear switch 25 of a transmission 15 and a clutch switch 26 to the controller 27. When the idle switch is turned ON or when the gears are not engaged or when the clutch is pressed, it is decided that the engine 1 and the drive system are not coupled so as to reduce the feedback control gain of air-fuel ratio. Consequently, the variation range of rotation can be reduced.
