OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To enhance a sensitivity in writing by laser, by a method wherein a recording layer containing a metallic phthalocyanine compound which is a light absorbing substance and shown by a specific formula is provided on a substrate to form an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of phthalic anhydride derivative, 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylic anhydride derivative, and urea is made to react with a metal or metallic compound to synthesize a metallic phthalocyanine compound shown by a formula I [where R represents H, halogen atom, methyl, and a group shown by a formula II (where X represents H or C1-C10 alkyl, and (n) represents an integer 0-8), and A represents a metal or a metallic compound]. A recording layer containing a light absorbing substance, i.e. the metallic phthalocyanine compound shown by the formula I, is provided on a substrate to form an optical recording medium.
