PURPOSE:To attain an original larger than the original read width to be passed through without folding the original by adopting the structure that at least one side of the carrying path of the original is opened. CONSTITUTION:When the original 100 is loaded from the left, a light radiated from an LED 520 to a photodiode 501 is shut, the loading of the original 100 is sensed and the paper is carried between two original carrying rollers 505 and 507. A support 510 is of cunti-lever structure and since a gap 511 is provided to one side, the paper having a width in excess of the read width is passed through. Even with a facsimile equipment of A6 sizehaving a small original read width, the adoption of the structure with open one side of the carrying path allows the original of A4 size to be sent without being cut-off or folded.
