Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent undue increase in fuel quantity in an engine wherein the fuel quantity is increased upon determination of acceleration, by independently setting an acceleration determination value in the cases of full cylinder operation and reduced cylinder operation, and thereby effecting proper determination of acceleration in both the cases. CONSTITUTION:An output signal from a throttle opening sensor A is input to an acceleration determining means B. When a rate of change in throttle opening in terms of time is not less than a predetermined value, the acceleration determining means B determines that an engine is in an accelerated condition. Upon determination of acceleration, a fuel quantity increasing means C increases a fuel quantity to be supplied. When a cylinder number control means D determines that the engine is in a predetermined operational region, it stops the operation of a part of the cylinders to effect deceleration. An acceleration determination value setting means E is provided to independently set a determination value upon determination of acceleration by the acceleration determining means B in the cases of full cylinder operation and reduced cylinder operation. The determination value in the reduced cylinder operation is set to be greater than that in the full cylinder operation.
