Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To measure automatically length of a fabric from joint to joint, by jointing in series fabrics with a fluorescent thread in the longitudinal direction and detecting a joint between the fabrics with a joint detector. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of fabrics are jointed in series with a fluorescent thread in the longitudinal direction and a fluorescence detection type joint detector 4, for joints 1 of the fabrics is arranged in such a way that the detector is located opposedly to a traveling path of the fabric made to travel in the longitudinal direction. A rotary encoder 2 contacts with the fabric 3 and rotates accompanying the travel of the fabric. Output pulses of the rotary encoder 2 are counted by a length measuring circuit 5 corresponding to outputs of the joint detector 4. The fabric 3 is transported in the direction of an arrow A by driving 51, 52 and driven rolls 53. A fabric inspection bench 54 is installed on the way of the transporting path of the fabric 3 and the fabric travels on the bench 54. The fabric 3 is thrown into a fabricating bench 55 for the final batch process or loaded on a carriage.
