Zusammenfassung:	A portable compass saw having an oscillation drive for a push rod, to which a saw blade is attached. The push rod has an angular cross-section, and is guided over part of its length on all sides in a housing. Guide surfaces, themselves formed by parts of the housing, are provided for the purpose of guidance on two opposite sides of the push rod. Roller bearings extending at right angles to the stroke direction are respectively located on the two other sides of the push rod. In the region of the oscillation drive, a pressure member acts on the push rod on the opposite side. This member loads the push rod in the direction toward the oscillation drive. The push rod is consequently guided in a trouble free manner in the housing in, and at right angles to, the direction of the stroke, so that no play occurs which may impair the saw cut.
