PICTURE READER

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for transmission of useless data and to shorten a read time by providing a read width specification means prescribing the read width of an original to a necessary width and a scanning length specification means prescribing the scanning distance of said means. CONSTITUTION: On the upper face of a body 1 a read window 2, a set window 5 having X set knobs 3 and 4 and a groove 8 having Y set knob 6 and 7 are provided. The X set knob 3 and 4 are installed in the set window 5 to slide freely and the Y set knobs 6 and 7 providing a light emission diode 10 respectively on their lower part is installed slidable in the groove 8. A read width storage means 16 stores the location data set by the knobs 3 and 4 and a control means 17 controls the actions of the respective parts of a line sensor 11, a drive motor 14, a photosensor 15 and the read width storage means 16. The location of the knobs 6 and 7 is detected by the sensor 15. With this constitution, the picture data in the location from the knob 3 to the knob 4 is read out every one line in the location from the knob 7 to the knob 6, so that the range of the read of the picture data can be set at need.
