Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a composite body which is improved in an absorption rate of a liquid and wettability with the absorbed liquid and its diffusibility, comprising a liquid-absorptive polymer and a hydrophilic fiber base embedded in the polymer to a depth at least equal to part of its fiber length. CONSTITUTION:This liquid-absorptive composite body is formed from a light- absorptive polymer and a hydrophilic fiber base embedded in the polymer to a depth at least equal to part of its fiber length and has such a form that at least part of the fibers 2 protrude beyond the outer surface of the polymer 1. As the liquid-absorptive polymer, a polymer of a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer based on acrylic acid or an acrylate is desirable. Examples of the hydrophilic fibers include wood pulp, cotton, wool, rayon, vinylon, and acetate. The content of the liquid absorptive polymer is preferably 15-95% based on the weight of the solid of the water-absorptive composition body.
