CHAIN GUIDE FOR OHC ENGINE

PURPOSE:To make engagement of a chain into a sprocket at the can shaft side so better as well as to eliminate a by slackness in the chain, by altering a section form of an elastic plate forming a chain guide, and making a sectional area of the cam shaft side end smaller. CONSTITUTION:A travel guide 12 of a chain 11 is set up toward a sprocket 9 at the side of a cam shaft 3 from a sprocket 8 at the side of a crankshaft 1. And, this travel guide 12 is made up of a backup member 13 consisting of an elastic plate and a guide part 14 having a sliding surface to the chain 11. At this time, the backup member 13 forms it wall thickness so as to be thinned in a discontinuous state toward the tip side from the base end side pivotally supported by a crankcase 2, and it is formed so as to cause the tip end to be bent inward when pressing it by a chain tensioner 15. With this constitution, engagement of the chain 11 into the cam shaft side sprocket 9 is made ever so better, while any slackness in the chain 11 is eliminated.
