PURPOSE:To improve resolution by discriminating and fetching a white or black signal and a half-tone signal from a facsimile picture signal, by making the signal into a black or white signal after the white or black signal until the constant picture- element signal of a half-tone signal output, and by mixing this signal and the discriminated white or black signal together. CONSTITUTION:Of a facsimile picture signal from input terminal In, a white (black) signal above a 1st level is discriminated by comparator CM1, and a black (white) signal below the 1st level is by comparator CM2. Further, the white and black signals extracted by those comparators CM1 and CM2 are applied to AND gate AG1 via FF2 and FF5 to extract the half-tone signal of the white or black signal, which is made into a black or white signal until the constant picture element signal of the half-tone signal output after the white or black output signal; the white or black signal extracted by this gate AG1 and the white or black signal by comparator CM1 are mixed by OR gate OG1 and then outputted to output terminal (Out).
