Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To contrive to carry a work correctly in a progressing system by performing a cutting in the crosswise direction at the ends in the longitudinal direction of the work prior to the progressive feed through positioning holes. CONSTITUTION:A work feeder 15 inserts its protuberances in the feed holes of a lead frame facing downward, ascends after proceeding to the direction of a metal mold, and retreats by the amount of this progress. By repeating the action the feeder carries works. At this time, a work end cutting mechanism 16 is provided on the metal mold side and over the end parts on the reaction side in the longitudinal direction of the works 101 placed on the work feeder 15 and the end parts in the longitudinal direction of the works 101 are cut in the crosswise direction. This cutting is performed in such a way that the length ranging from the feed holes 105 of each work 101 to the terminal becomes all less than 1/2 (a-w)-alpha. Provided that, (a), (w) and (alpha) respectively show the distance between the feed holes on which a shear cut is performed, a shear width and the dispersion of positions where a shear is performed. Thereby, as there exists a gap 17 between the works to be carried on the metal mold, troubles due to the superposition become nil.
