Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 is 1-4C lower alkyl or cyclopropyl; R2 is formyl, 1-4C lower alkanoyl, benzoyl, 1-4C lower alkyl, 1-4C lower alkenyl, 1-4C hydroxy-substituted lower alkyl or 1-4C perfluoroalkyl; R3 is 4-pyridyl or 2-pyridyl). EXAMPLE:4-Ethyl-1-methyl-7-(4-pyridyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-3(2H)i-soqui noline. USE:A cardiotonic agent. PREPARATION:For example, a 2-acyl-4-(4-pyridyl)cyclohexanone expressed by formula II is reacted with an alkanolyacetamide in the presence of piperidinediethylamine, etc., and the resultant reaction product is subjected to the wolff-kishner reduction to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
