VOLUME SAVE/RESTORATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To lighten the burden imposed on a host computer system in terms of executing a save/restoration program by operating an external mechanical switch and instructing the save and restoration processing of a secondary storage medium. CONSTITUTION:It is assumed that a save switch 21 is pressed, and the host computer system 1 does not use the secondary storage medium 27. A decision means 23 gives instructions to execute saving volume contents to a program 26, which saves the contents of the medium 27 in the secondary storage medium 28 dedicated to saving and restoration. During the execution of saving, a rejection means 24 rejects an access request from the host 1, and upon the completion of the saving action a permission means 25 permits the access request. If a restoration switch 22 is pressed and the host 1 does not use the medium 27, the decision means 23 gives instructions to execute restoring the volume contents to the program 26. The contents of the medium 28 are loaded onto medium 27, and said contentes are restored.
