HEAD POSITIONING DEVICE FOR MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE:To shorten the positioning time to the reference position of a head by recording reference position code information on the track becoming the reference position of the head and discriminating by the presence of the information as to whether the head is in the reference position or not. CONSTITUTION:The reference position code showing the reference position besides the servo information is recorded in the positional information zone 18 of the track of a magnetic disk 1 and when the reference position code is detected at the time of positioning heads 6a, 6b to the reference position, the heads 6a, 6b are located there. The track can thus be discriminated, the seek times of the heads 6a, 6b and the track information reading times are reduced and the positioning time of the heads 6a, 6b to the reference position is shortened.
