DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR CHARACTER AND GRAPHIC INFORMATION

PURPOSE:To decrease the quantity of data to be transmitted by transmitting independently position information showing a range where the same retrieving command is sent to an information center and the information on a conversion table which converts an indicated range into the retrieving command. CONSTITUTION:Position coordinates supplied from an input part 25 are compared with the position information (obtained by dividing a screen into optional geographical patterns with numbers added to each pattern) showing a range where the same retrieving command received from an information center 1 is sent to the center 1. Then said position coordinates are converted into the numbers of graphic elements including coordinates. These numbers are converted into the retrieving commands and sent to the center 1 with reference to the information on a conversion table which converts an indicated range received from the center 1 into a retrieving command. As a result, the desired screens are sent to a user terminal 20 from the center 1. Then a desired retrieving command is obtained by sending only a new conversion table to the terminal 20 as long as the position information is equal between a display screen and the next one.
