MANUFACTURE OF QUINOLINE

Quinolines are prepared by reaction of anilines with alpha , beta -unsaturated aldehydes or ketones in approximately 70 to 85 % by weight sulphuric acid in the presence of catalytic amounts of iodine at elevated temperature.
