EXAMPLE:A compound shown by formula II. USE:A photochromic sensitized material having improved compativility with and solubility in high polymer compound, dark color, improved storage stability and improved stability of repetition of coloring and decoloring. PREPARATION:For example, a 2,3,3-trimethylindolenine derivative shown by formula III is alkylated with a p-toluenesulfonic ester shown by formula IV preferably in the absence of a solvent at 130-150 deg.C and then reacted with a nitroso-phenanthrol derivative shown by formula V in a solvent, preferably ethanol, etc., in the presence of a piperidine catalyst at 40-120 deg.C.
