Zusammenfassung:NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I {X, Y are C(CN)2; rings A-D are benzene, naphthalene rings where at least one among A and B or C and D is naphthalene ring]. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II. USE:An optical recording medium which can record utilizing change of state of the substance caused by the light energy of oscillation wavelength from a semiconductor laser. PREPARATION:The condensation reaction between an anthrone compound of formula III or IV and p-benzoquinone of formula V is carried out in chlorobenzene to give a compound of formula VI. The product is allowed to react with malonitrile of formula VII in the presence of titanium tetrachloride in chloroform.
