Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To shorten a saving/recovering time without requiring other saving mediums such as a magnetic tape and the like by searching out an idle track in the spare track area of a same medium from a spare track management table inside a magnetic disk and using the idle track as the saving track prior to partial re-formatting. CONSTITUTION:A saving track information storage means 5 which searches out the idle track 9 in the spare track area 4 of the same medium from the spare track management table 2 in the magnetic disk 1 prior to re-formatting at the time of executing partial re-formatting into the magnetic disk 1 under operation, which stores the track address of the idle track 9 in the spare track management table 2 and which sets the track as the saving track, a saving means for re-formatting track information 6, a saving track detection means 7 and recovering means for re-formatting track information 8 are provided. Thus, other saving mediums such as the magnetic tape and the like are not required, and the saving/recovering time and a re-formatting time can be short, whereby there is no danger that a saving content is deleted since data is saved on the medium.
