WATER-BASED PLASTER FOR EXTERNAL USE CONTAINING CARTEOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled water-based plaster for external use with eased skin irritation and high percutaneous absorption by adding carteolol hydrochloride, as an active ingredient, to a plaster gel base containing a water-soluble polymer, water and a humectant as essential ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A plaster gel base containing 1.0-50% of a water-soluble poly mer such as gelatin or polyvinyl pyrrolidone, 1-70% of a humectant such as polyethylene glycol, sorbitol and 10-70% of water is combined with 0.1-5%, preferably 1-4% of carteolol hydrochloride, in addition, a solubilizer, surfactants, stabilizer, antioxidants and so on and they are kneaded. The product is spread on a support such as a nonwoven fabric to give the subject plaster. Carteolol hydrochloride is used to treat heart attack, arrhythmia, premature pulse or essential hypertension.
