PRODUCTION OF 2-ACYLFURAN DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To easily produce the titled compound useful as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals, especially for prostaglandin, using inexpensive reagent at a low cost, by using a specific mixed acid anhydride and a furan compound as raw materials and reacting the materials in a solvent in the presence of boron trifluoride. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula III is produced by reacting (A) a mixed acid anhydride of formula I (R is 1-18C alkyl, 3-8C alkenyl, 3-8C alkynyl, 4-7C cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.; X is H, Cl or Br; Y is Cl or Br) with (B) a furan compound of formula II (R1 is H or lower alkyl) in a solvent (e.g. benzene) in the presence of boron trifluoride or a boron trifluoride complex preferably at 30-70 deg.C. The amount of the compound of formula II is preferably 1.2-2 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of the compound of formula I. The starting compound of formula I can be synthesized by reacting a carboxylic acid of formula IV with a haloacetic acid compound of formula V (Z is OH, Cl or Br).
