MANUFACTURE OF SUPERCONDUCTIVE WIRE

PURPOSE:To enable the manufacturing of a long-scaled superconductive wire by blending specific species of powder and providing this powder repeatedly with one or more times of serial processes which consist of mixing, molding, heat treatment, and pulverization and next filling a metallic pipe with this obtained powder and performing a cold drawing process of this pipe and further performing heat treatment of this pipe as needed. CONSTITUTION:Alkaline earth metal carbonate powder which is a raw material of an oxide superconductor, oxide powder of a group IIIA element, and copper oxide powder are blended. This blended powder is provided repeatedly with one or more times of serial processes which consist of mixing, molding, heat treatment, and pulverization, and next a metallic pipe is filled with this obtained powder. Then, a cold drawing process of this pipe is performed and further heat treatment of this pipe is performed as needed. Carbonate in the raw material powder is completely changed into oxide, and this oxide is made to react to other oxide so as to become powder of the oxide superconductor. Hence, a long-scaled superconductive wire can be obtained.
