Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R represents phenyl or substituted thiazolyl; R represents H or lower alkyl; Q represents single bond or lower alkylene) or salt thereof. EXAMPLE:2-Benzyl-6-[(2,4-dioxothiazolidin-5-yl)methyl] -3-oxo-1,4-bezoxazine. USE:A remedy for diabetes. PREPARATION:An imine compound (salt) expressed by formula II is hydrolyzed to afford the compound expressed by formula I. A raw material compound expressed by formula II can be obtained by diazotizing a compound expressed by formula III in the presence of a hydrohalogenic acid and reacting with methyl acrylate in the presence of a copper catalyst such as copper oxide, to afford a compound expressed by formula IV (X represents halogen atom and reacting the resultant compound with tiourea in the presence of a base, such as sodium acetate.
