Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To produce the titled light transmitting product having a thick precoat layer free from foaming and excellent in heat resistance and radiation resistance, by applying a precoat layer consisting of a polyimide to quartz glass based light transmitting product several times. CONSTITUTION:A core 3 prepared by pulling up a quartz glass preformer 1 melted in a melt oven 2 is passed through an organic solvent solution of wholly aromatic polyimide containing >=30% imide group expressed by the formula (R1-2 are 4-50C, preferably 6-20C aliphatic, alicyclic aromatic or heterocyclic tetravalent organic groups) via the first die 4 to form a coating layer 5 and then passed through a curing oven 6 to form a precoat layer 7. Then the treated core is passed through an organic solvent solution of wholly aromatic polyimide as same as above-mentioned via the second die 8 to form a coating layer and passed through curing ovens 9 and 10 to form a precoat layer and wound to a winder 11.
