MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE:To quickly position a magnetic head to an accurate position by generating a position drive signal in the timing delayed by a prescribed time at the point of time when a difference amount is zero so as to minimize the vibration of the magnetic head and the overshooting amount of positioning. CONSTITUTION:A position driving signal generating section 50 is provided, which generates a PSDR signal (7) generated by a difference zero signal (5)when the mode transition is moved from the DRIM mode to the PSDR mode in the timing delayed by a prescribed time from the point of time when the ON of the difference zero signal (5) is detected. Thus, the vibration of the magnetic head caused by tentative discontinuity of a drive current conducted through a VCM generated at the transition into the PSDR mode and the positioning overshoot are minimized to position the magnetic head quickly to an accurate position.
