Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To smooth a heavily rugged surface by forming a color filter on a substrate, covering the surface thereof with a transparent resin layer, then applying pressure and heat to the resin layer by means of a roller having a specular surface. CONSTITUTION:After the color filter 3 is formed on the glass substrate 4, the resin layer 2 is formed thereon by a spin coating method. The substrate formed with such resin layer 2 is placed on a stand 6 of a smoothing device and is passed between a metallic roller 1 and a rubber roller 5 in such a manner that the roller 1 and the resin layer 2 contact each other, by which the pressure and heat are applied to the resin layer 2 and the resin surface is smoothed. The resin layer having the excellent surface smoothness is thereby easily provided.
