Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To raise engine output by forming an independent two-division passage of the predetermined length at a connection with a cylinder in an intake or exhaust passage and improving the intake and exhaust efficiency of one passage using a pressure wave generated with the closure of the other passage. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral port type rotary piston engine has a rotor housing 1 provided with an intake port 4 and an exhaust port 5 formed thereon, and said openings 4 and 5 are respectively opened and closed with the turn of a rotor 2, according to predetermined timings, In this case, the intake port 4 is divided into two ports 4a and 4b with a division 41 formed in a direction orthogonal to the rotational direction of the rotor 2. The division 41 is extended up to the inside of an intake pipe 3, thereby dividing the pipe 3 into two intake passages 3a and 3b respectively continuous to each port 4a and 4b. And the length of the division 41 is so set that a pressure wave generated with the closure of the first port 4a will reach an intake working chamber 'Y' while the second port 4b is open.
