POWDERED COAL-BURNING BOILER

PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of oil etc. and prevent ashes containing high unburnt components from being released out of a furnace even in the initial stage of burning by burning lump coals containing small amount of oil as a starter fuel near to the main burner. CONSTITUTION:Lump coals 1 containing a small amount of oil as a starter fuel are placed on a mount 4 directly under a powdered coal burner 2 in a furnace 2, and a heat generator 5 is inserted in a body of the lump coals. The lump coals 1 are ignited by being heated by the heat generator 5 with the air supplied by the powdered coal burner 2. Then, the flame of the lump coals 1 is propagated to the main fuel of powdered coal supplied from the burner 2 to start the burning of the main fuel. A ceramics igniter or heater is used as the heat generator, and its temperature is acceptable if it helps the spontaneous burning of coal. Since the coal used for ignition is the lump coal, it does not fly around inside the furnace and is not released out of the furnace. Further, there is no need to use a large amount of oil or gas for ignition.
