Zusammenfassung:A process for the preparation of optionally branched polyarylene sulphides from alkali metal sulphides and dihaloaromatic compounds in a polar solvent in the presence of from 0.05 to 10.0 mol-%, preferably from 0.1 to 5 mol-%, of an aromatic thioether gives polyarylene sulphides of defined melt flow viscosity which have high stability in the melt, a low chlorine content and low corrosion.
