CARBONIZING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent shelf hanging phenomena of a raw material and to treat the raw material economically and efficiently, by spirally dropping the raw material along an inner wall in a furnace while forcedly rubbing and loosening to successively carry out preheating, drying and carbonizing. CONSTITUTION:A bar chip raw material having high water content is fed from an inlet 3 for raw material to a main body 1 of a cylindrical furnace having a lower half part uprightly hung in a combustion chamber. Then the material is spirally sent under pressure on each semicircular grating plates 5 which are set at different height horizontally and alternately left and right hand through a revolving rake 7 along the inner wall of the furnace whill successively rubbing and loosening downward. Then the raw material is dropped while bring the material into contact with a rising hot gas flow in the whole surface and carbonized in a combustion chamber 2 to produce a carbonaceous material useful as a raw material for active carbon.
