KEY INPUT DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a key input device by storing the function, the display color, etc., of each key in the memory means and selecting either one of these memory means in response to the purpose of application, etc., and at the same time controlling those memory means in a prescribed procedure. CONSTITUTION:The pages are selected by a page selecting means 22 in response to the purpose of application, etc., and the function, the display color, etc., of each key are read out of a memory means corresponding to the selected page. Based on this read information, a panel control means 21 controls the display color, etc., of each key of a key input device 1 and sets the device 1 under an operable state. Then the key function is changed by the means 22 and at the same time the display color is changed at each page to inform the change of pages to the operator. Thus it is possible to avoid the input mistakes and to improve the operability of the key input.
