Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the erosion resistance of the moving vane of a steam turbine and to extend the service life thereof, by forming a hard film consisting of nitride of Ti, Si, B, etc., onto the surface at the front end of said moving vane. CONSTITUTION:An erosion preventive plate 5 formed of a Ti alloy plate or by overlaying is formed at need to the top end 5 of the moving vane 1 for the steam turbine in order to prevent the erosion thereof. The moving vane is put into a vacuum vessel and gaseous N2 is introduced therein. Ti, Si, B, etc., are evaporated in the vessel to ionize the same and to accelerate the ions so that the film 6 consisting of TiN, Si3N4 or BN is formed on the plate 5. Erosion of the front end of the moving vane of the steam turbine by water drops is prevented by the presence of such nitride layer 6 and the service life thereof is extended.
