Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To clean an electrolytic bath and to improve the current efficiency by converting the MgO formed in the electrolytic bath into MgCl2 on the surface of an amorphous carbon part provided on the lower surface of the anode part of the title Mg electrolytic bath. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous carbon part 2 consisting of a porous carbon of perforated carbon material is provided on the lower surface of the anode 1 of the Mg electrolytic bath for electrolizing Mg chloride. The chemical reactions, MgO+C+Cl2=MgCl2+CO and 2MgO+C+2Cl2=2MgCl2+CO2, are allowed to occur on the surface of the carbon part 2, and the content of MgO in the electrolytic bath is reduced by the chemical reactions.
