Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance enzymatic hydrolytic ratio to a needle-leaf tree, by subjecting a cellulose material previously irradiated with electron beam, etc., under atmosphere free from oxygen to halogenation and applying an aqueous alkali solution treatment in order to carry out delignin. CONSTITUTION:A cellulose material irradiated with electron beam or gamma-ray having 10 -10 rad under atmosphere previously freed from oxygen is treated with a halogen or halogen compound and then delignin fro the cellulose material is carried out using an aqueous alkali solution. As other method, the cellulose material previously irradiated with electron beam or gamma-ray in dose of 10 -10 rad is treated with halogen or halogen compound under atmosphere free from oxygen and then subjected to delignin by an aqueous alkali solution. The above- mentioned method makes it possible to recover almost cellulose as glucose by enzymatic saccharification.
