Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To approximately double production of desired protein, etc., compared with a conventional procedure, by cultivating a transformant capable of developing th desired protein or polypeptide in a medium containing glycerin and yeast essence. CONSTITUTION:A transformant, a host of Escherichia coli, yeast, Bacillus subtilis, etc., transformed by inserting recombinant DNA capable of developing desired protein or polypeptide, is prepared. The transformant is cultivated in a medium containing glycerin and yeast essence. The medium is a complex medium containing glycerin and the content of glycerin is preferably an amount to provide an actual carbon source for the transformant. A concrete example of the medium composition is a medium consisting of glycerin, trypton, yeast essence, Na2HPO4, KH2PO4 and MgSO4 . 7H2O.
