JOINING OF SLIVER

PURPOSE:To prevent the blocking of silver and the generation of end breakage and silver unevenness, etc.,, by overlapping ends of silvers produced by drawing, wrapping for the front end of the rear sliver with the rear end of the front sliver and interlocking the fibers with air. CONSTITUTION:An end of a sliver is clamped at a definite interval and drawn to obtain a sliver wherein the number of constituent fibers gradually decreases toward the tip end and the sliver has a uniform density gradient. The ends 1', 2' of the above slivers are overlapped with each other over a definite length and the front end 2' of the rear sliver 2 is wrapped with the rear end 1' of the front sliver 1. Single fibers in the sliver are interlocked by blasting air from above and below through a main air nozzle 9 while pressing the rear end 1' with covering arms 7a, 7b, 8a and 8b.
