Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To manufacture a sintered iron alloy having improved wear resistance by adding specified percentages of Ni and C to Fe and sintering them so as to form a three-phase mixed structure consisting of an Ni enriched phase, bainite and pearlite phases. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials are blended so as to provide a compsn. consisting of 6-14wt% Ni, [0.84-0.056XNi(%)]-[1.4-0.067XNi(%)] wt% C and the balance Fe with accompanying elements, and they are sintered by a prescribed method to manufacture a sintered iron alloy having a three-phase mixed structure consisting of an Ni enriched phase, bainite and pearlite phases. The sintered iron alloy has improved wear resistance and is suitable for use as a material for the valve seats, etc., of a high output engine for an automobile.
