PHARMACEUTICAL FOR SKIN

PURPOSE:To obtain a useful pharmaceutical for skin containing a cembrane type diterpene compound as an active ingredient and exhibiting strong inhibiting action to hyperkeratosis and inflammation of skin. CONSTITUTION:A cembrane type diterpene compound expressed by formula I or formula II (R is H or acyl group) is contained as an active ingredient. The compound containing the above-mentioned active ingredient is obtained from Sarcophyton glaucum which is a coelenterate belonging to Gorgonacea. Namely the compound is separated from a lipid fraction of extract of the Sarcophyton glaucum by a silica gel column chromatography. When extracted, the extract is dehydrated and finely cut so that consistency of the surface is lost and preferably the contact area with a air is reduced or the extraction is carried out under inert gas atmosphere in order to avoid the decomposition of the containing ingredient during extraction. The type of the pharmaceutical is arbitrary and the active ingredient is blended preferably in the range of 0.00001-1wt%.
