Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To improve the floor efficiency of an electrolytic cell and to reduce the construction cost by using an electrolytic bath having higher density than the fused Mg, laminating inclined electrode plates on the cell, and carrying out electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:An uppermost anode 8, a lowermost cathode 9, and an intermediate electrode plate 10 are set in the electrolytic cell 1 so that the short sides are inclined at an angle of 30-70 deg. to the horizontal direction. An electrolytic bath contg. MgCl2, NaCl, and CaCl2 in a specified ratio is charged in the electrolytic cell 1, and fused-salt electrolysis is carried out under specified conditions. Consequently, the chlorine generated on the surface of the inclined anode 8 flows up, passes under a partition wall 5 from a gaseous chlorine chamber 6, enters an Mg reservoir 7, and flows down along the opposite side wall part, and a circulating flow is formed. Accordingly, Mg particles float up into the Mg reservoir 7 to form a fused Mg bed 17 and are taken out from an outlet 3, and gaseous chlorine is sucked and discharged from a discharge port 4. By this method, the electrolytic cell 1 can be made compact. |
