PRODUCTION OF GRANULAR SLAKED LIME

PURPOSE:To obtain granular slaked lime at a low cost by a simplified method, by reacting quick lime with water to synthesize the slaked lime and granulating the slaked lime using a granulating means. CONSTITUTION:Quick lime is reacted with water to synthesize slaked lime. In the process, coexisting water is used as a binder to granulate the slaked lime using a granulating means. Granules having a high strength are simultaneously produced utilizing chemical reaction taking place in the process. The amount of the water to be added to the quick lime is about 3mol or more based on 1mol quick lime and granulation is carried out at 0-90 deg. tilting angle at an optional number of revolutions in the case of using a tumbling granulating means. Thereby the aimed granular slaked lime having an optional grain diameter can be obtained at least in a required amount. Similar granulating effects are produced by using not only the above-mentioned tumbling granulating means but also other granulating means, e.g. extrusion type, fluidized bed type, etc.
