EXTENDING SYSTEM FOR KANA-KANJI

PURPOSE:To register more word information in a fixed-size extension area by limiting information to be registered in the extension area to only headings and grammatical information. CONSTITUTION:When an operator inputs a heading, for example, 'kanji' with 4 key depression by a keyboard, this heading is transferred to a Kana (Japanese syllabary)-Kanji(Chinese character) conversion processing part 13. This Kana- Kanji conversion processing part 13 retrieves a fundamental constitution dictionary 11 with the number of key depressions as the key; and if the heading is found in a heading part 11a of the fundamental constitution dictionary 11, corresponding expression information and grammatical information are used to determine a candidate expression. The candidate expression is displayed on a display device thereafter. If heading 'kanji' inputted by key depression is not found in the heading part 11a of the fundamental constitution dictionary 11 and the operator newly registers it n an extension area 12, only the heading and grammatical information are written in the heading part 12a and a grammatical information part 12b of the extension area 12, and a corresponding Kanji expression is stored on a floppy disc device 15.
