Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To simplify a structure of the device in the caption, by fixing a vibration damping plate of a plain plate-or airfoil profile to the top portion of a structure, at a right angle or at a certain angle to the bibratory direction of the structure for which a vibration damping is intended. CONSTITUTION:A vibration damping plate 2 supported, at nearly the top portion of a suspension bridge-main column 1, by a supporting member 3 is fixed at a right angle to a windward direction 4. When wind in the windward direction 4 reaches a resonance wind velocity for a torsional vibration of the main colum, the torsional vibration namely rotational vibration in a direction 5 is produced. In this case, the vibration damping plate 2 will vibrate in a direction 6, a windward direction, so as to produce an aerodynamic damping force. Accordingly, work such as re-stretching of wires will be made unnecessary, in comparison with a conventional vibration damping method, thereby facilitating formation of a structure.
