Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled medium having excellent durability by incorporating magnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite as magnetic powder into a magnetic coated film and incorporating a mixture composed of prescribed weight ratios of a vinyl chloride copolymer and polyurethane resin having prescribed characteristics as a binder therein, and curing the magnetic coated film by electron ray projection. CONSTITUTION:This medium is formed by coating the magnetic coated film 2 on the nonmagnetic base 1. The magnetic powder of the hexagonal ferrite is used as the magnetic powder, for which the fine particles expressed by the general formula MO.n(Fe2O3) are used. In the formula, M denotes at least one kind among Ba, Sr and Ca and n=5-6. The mixture prepd. by compounding the vinyl chloride copolymer having double bonds sensitive to electron rays and the polyurethane resin having double bonds sensitive to electron rays at 30:70-70:30 ratio is used as the binder of the magnetic coated film 2. The coated magnetic coating compd. is cured by projecting the electron rays adjusted to 2-12Mrad irradiation quantity thereto. The magnetic recording medium which has the excellent durability, magnetic characteristics and electromagnetic conversion characteristic and permits high-density recording is thereby obtd.
