NEW PUTTY COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain a putty composition whose cure time can be controlled to about 30min, by mixing an unsaturated polyester resin, a filler, an unsaturated vinyl monomer, a cure accelerator, a peroxide curing agent, and a specified dye. CONSTITUTION:A two-component putty composition consisting of 100wt% component A comprising 15-30wt% unsaturated polyester resin, 40-60wt% filler, 10-20wt% unsaturated vinyl monomer, 1-2wt% cure accelerator, and an additive; and 2-3wt% component B comprising a peroxide curing agent, wherein component A contains an anthraquinone dye of formula I or a mixture of this dye with azo dyes of formula II and/or formula III (the azo dyes being in an amount of up to 30wt% of the total dyes) in an amount of 0.001-5wt% of component A. In the formulas, R1 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R2 is H, alkoxy, etc.; R3 is amino, imino, etc.; X and Y re each H, Cl, etc.; Z is methyl or Cl R4 is H, methyl, etc.; R5 is H or methyl. The progress of curing reaction of this putty composition can be followed visually and exactly.
