CRYSTAL RESONATOR AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To facilitate practice to a printed board, to serve to miniaturizing mounted apparatus and to mass-produce crystal resonators by providing external terminals directly on both ends of a crystal resonator piece, covering them with divided containers and resin mold forming the whole body. CONSTITUTION:A crystal resonator piece 1 and inner end side of holding parts 41A, 41B of terminal pieces 4A, 4B are held by containers 5, 5' from both sides of the crystal resonator piece 1 to form a space between the crystal resonator piece 1. A mold formed body M is formed by mold forming using resin material as shown by two-dot chain lines to cover containers 5, 5' and a part of terminal pieces 4A, 4B extended from the containers 5, 5'. Both sides of enlarged ends 42A, 42B of terminal pieces 4A, 4B are cut as shown by dotted lines and separated from a metallic frame 3. Exposed parts of terminal pieces 4A, 4B exposed from the mold formed body M are bent at right angles, and further, enlarged end parts 42A, 42B are bent along the bottom face of the mold formed body M to make them external terminals. Thus, a chip-shaped crystal resonator is manufactured.
