Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To easily and accurately detect the incidence direction of light, by one photodetector by providing a cylindrical light spot position detector which has light transmissivity and a rod type omnidirection photodetector which is concentric with the detector. CONSTITUTION:The measuring instrument consists of the cylindrical light spot position detector 1 which has light transmissivity and the thin rod type omnidirectional photodetector 2 which is concentric with the detector 1. When a light beam L is incident on the photodetector 2 after being transmitted through the detector 1, a light generating current is led out of a current collecting electrode 5. Then when the light beam I from the light projecting device 6 which swivels is incident on the photodetector 2, the segment which connects the center axis of the cylinder and the incidence position P detected by the detector 1 indicates the direction of the device 6. Therefore, when the light beam L is sensed by the photodetector 2, an azimuth psi is found by arithmetic according to a specific equation on the basis of respective currents outputted by the detector 1.
